Skinner & T'witch

Drawing on music-hall and vaudeville traditions, Skinner & T’witch combine original comedy and satire with folk, flamenco and theatre-style songs. Their influences include Flanders and Swann, Jake Thackray, Noel Coward, Kurt Weill, Leonard Cohen, Bert Jansch, and the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band.

Performing together since 2014, they have released six albums, toured extensively across the UK, Australia and the US, and represented the UK at the prestigious Folk Alliance International (FAI) Conference 2020 in New Orleans.

Supported by folk and roots DJs worldwide, their music has reached the Top 20 in both the FAI Folk Chart’s Top Songs and Top Artists lists.

Steve has a background in musical theatre, having managed a theatre company and toured the country with musical reviews as a professional songwriter, specialising in comedy and satire. Steve is also a multi-instrumentalist.

Sandra Twitchett (T'witch)

Sandra has a classical training, and has a passion for choral music, having herself sung with choirs including the Huddersfield Choral Society and the Munich Philharmonic Chorus. T'witch is a folk-rocker at heart. She has an excellent ear for sound production and harmony singing, which contributes to the distinctive Skinner & T’witch sound.'

NEW SINGLE: 'Hunting the Tiger Hunter' - Released Nov 5th!

This will be our second single release since 2022, and we're again really very excited about it! ❤️🎶

It'll be winging it's way to all of the lovely, lovely Folk DJ's this week, and will be available to listen to/purchase on our Bandcamp page from November 5th! www.skinnerandtwitch.bandcamp.com

‘Hunting the Tiger Hunter’ (lyrics below) is a playful, storytelling song. Very eccentric in style, but with a serious underlying message. Inspired by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, it has a ridiculous chorus and a surprise ending. The song will feature on Skinner & T’witch’s second satirical album, ‘Discovering the Pensioner Within’, due for release in late 2027.

Tigers are in India, but only until next week.

So we're hunting the tiger hunter, travelling with a minimum of fuss.

We've got cheese-flavoured snacks and our best anoraks,

A net, and a damned big blunderbuss!

'Cos tigers never hurt anyone (well, except for a goat or two!).

They've got handy black stripes and they smell rather ripe;

I know 'cos I saw one in a zoo.

'An amazingly entertaining evening at Bideford Folk Club with Skinner and T'witch. You never knew what was coming next; comedy, tragedy or parody. Nearly all of Steve and Sandra's material is written by them and very well written too, with lots of laughs and rousing choruses.
